LAKE GENEVA, Wis. – The MSOE men's golf team hosted its annual MSOE Invitational this Sunday and Monday, taking 10th in the two-day tournament played on The Highlands at Grand Geneva.
The Raiders shaved a couple strokes from round one to two and finished at +102 (670) in the 13-team field. Central College took top honors at +22 (590), 17 strokes ahead of second-place Carthage.
Junior Jacob Phelps was once again MSOE's top player, shooting a team-best +5 (76) on Monday for a two-day tally of +18 (160). He tied for 33rd. Freshman Andrew Ramirez was the team's top golfer Sunday at +8 (79) and finished the tourney three shots back of Phelps at +21 (163) and in 42nd place.
Senior Macon Suckow tied for 54th place with a score of +32 (174), four shots ahead of sophomore Dylen Challe in 62nd place. Sophomore Eric Fulsaas was one place back of Challe with a score of +38 (180).
Three Raiders played as individuals, highlighted by freshman Reid Rumack in a tie for 43rd at +22 (164). He was consistent, shooting +11 (82) both days. Also of note, freshman Kevin Banks played his first collegiate tournament and improved by 18 strokes from one round to the next, finishing up with a +14 (85) Monday.
This was MSOE's last outing before getting the NACC Championships underway next week. The tournament plays its first two rounds next Monday and Tuesday at Whitsling Straits. The final two rounds are then played in the spring.
