VERNON HILLS, Ill. - Junior Jacob Phelps carded a +3 (75) to lead the MSOE men's golf team to a tie for fifth place at the Lake Forest Invitational Sunday at White Deer Run Golf Club.
The Raiders finished with a team score of +32 (320) to tie a team from Wisconsin Lutheran. Concordia Wisconsin shot +14 (302) for top honors.
Phelps was just five shots off the lead and finished the back nine just one over par for his best score of the early spring season.
Freshman Andrew Ramirez and senior Macon Suckow were separated by just one shot at +8 and +9, respectively. Ramirez's score of 80 was tied for 21st, whole Suckow's 81 was tied for 24th.
Freshman Dylen Challe rounded out the team's scorers with a +12 (84) putting him tied for 35th. Sophomore Eric Fulsaas also competed, shooting a +16 (88).
MSOE returns to action next weekend at the postponed NACC Championships. The opening two rounds, scheduled for the fall, were suspended. The tournament is now three rounds to be played next Sunday and Monday.
