Baseball Falls at UW-La Crosse 4-0

Box Score

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin - The MSOE baseball team went on the road and fell to UW-La Crosse 4-0 Tuesday afternoon at Copeland Park.

The Raiders (17-15) held their own against the Eagles (17-13) with some solid pitching but were unable to get anything going at the plate against a team that played in the Division III World Series last season.

Three pitchers took the mound for MSOE, with freshman Justin Celeski (2-2) turning in a start of 4.0 innings with two runs allowed. He scattered six hits and struck out one. Junior Nathan Sliefert allowed just three hits in 2.0 scoreless innings of relief and freshman Joe Gilpin closed the game out.

Junior Owen Burnikel and Gilpin each reached base twice on a single and a walk while sophomore Sam Crawford collected the team's other hit with a double in the eighth inning.

The Raiders return to the field in league play Saturday, taking on Dominican for two games on the road. First pitch in game one is scheduled for 1 p.m.
