MILWAUKEE – The MSOE women's tennis team remained perfect through six matches to start the season, posting its third shutout of the campaign with a 9-0 victory over Beloit Saturday afternoon at McKinley Park.
The Raiders (6-0) blanked the Buccaneers for the second-straight season and have already matched last season's overall win total. The six wins are the most for the team since winning a school-record seven in 2008.
MSOE saw a relative shake-up to the lineup with juniors Monika Gurdak and Cali Bonie making her season singles debuts.
Senior Carly Grant breezed to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles, while freshman Katie Clements made the jump from No. 4 to No. 2 without sophomore Sammy Soeder. Like Grant, Clements remained perfect on the season at 6-0, scoring a 6-4, 6-2 victory.
Freshman Cierra Smith won at No. 3 by a score of 6-3, 6-0 and sophomore Olivia Boden picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 6.
Gurdak entered the lineup at No. 4 and made quick work of her match, 6-2, 6-0. Bonie found similar ease at No. 5, 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles, Grant and Soeder scored an 8-4 win at No. 1, with Smith and Clements teaming for an 8-1 win at No. 2. Bonie and sophomore Kim Baffin pushed their doubles record to 6-0 with an 8-4 win.
The Raiders' busy weekend with four matches in three days continues with two duals at UW-Stevens Point Sunday against the host Pointers and Lawrence.
