Box Score AUBURNDALE, Fla. – MSOE got a much-deserved day off yesterday after competing in three straight doubleheaders to start off their annual spring break trip to begin their 2020 season. However, the Raiders had to get back to the grind on Thursday morning against Trine. Unfortunately, the Thunder offense took advantage of some Raider miscues, as the Red & White see their three-game winning streak snapped in the two-run loss.
RESULT
MSOE – 5
Trine – 7
HOW IT HAPPENED
MSOE (4-3, 0-0 NACC) got on the board in their first trip to the plate this morning, playing as the away team in the neutral site matchup. Brandon Beauchamp was the first to cross home plate for the good guys, scoring on a fielder's choice in an inning that was extended by a Trine (7-2) error. Luke Schraufnagel plated his first of two RBIs shortly thereafter to put the Red & White up two heading into their first defensive half inning. All was scoreless until the bottom of the second when the Thunder put up three runs to take the lead, all coming off singles. Each team traded a run in the fourth before Schraufnagel tripled and Aaron Trattner singled to bring in two more for MSOE, giving them the 5-4 lead. But once again the advantage was short lived. Three unearned Trine runs scored in the bottom of the fifth, putting the bad guys up by two. Home plate was left untouched for the duration of the ballgame, sending the Raiders to their first loss in four attempts even though only three of the seven Trine runs scored were earned.
