Softball Falls to Falcons in Sweep

MEQUON, Wis. – MSOE softball made the trip to Concordia University Wisconsin on Sunday afternoon, as the Falcons swept in the Raiders, shortening both contests to five innings.

RESULTS
MSOE RAIDERS – 1
CUW Falcons – 9

MSOE RAIDERS – 2
CUW Falcons – 10

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Game One
    • The Raiders (12-14, 7-5 NACC) trailed the Falcons (13-9, 7-3 NACC) from jump street in the first game, as the Raiders registered their first hit in the third inning after surrendering two runs to CUW in the bottom of the first.  The Falcons would go on to score seven runs in the bottom of the fourth, turning the heat up on the Raiders with a score of 9-0.
    • Alyssa Jacobson led off the top of the fifth inning with a solo shot to right center field but it was not enough for the Raiders to extend the game, as their rally fell short four batters later with a final score of 9-1.
  • Game Two
    • The Falcons took the early lead again in Game 2, putting up five runs in the bottom of the first as CUW batted around the order.  The Falcons earned three hits while the Raiders committed three errors, as MSOE entered the second trailing 5-0.
    • The Raiders brought across their only runs of the game in the top of the second, as Jacobson delivered an RBI single to bring Carlee Emery home.  Faith Matta reached on an error with 2 outs that allowed Jenna O'Donnell to come across and cut the MSOE deficit to three runs at 5-2.  The Raiders would only muster two hits the rest of the way, and ultimately fell again in five innings as the Falcons took advantage of five Raider errors on the way to a 10-2 MSOE loss.
