MILWAUKEE – Just when the MSOE women's lacrosse team believed they had things all wrapped up, University of Wisconsin-Stout steals one late in the Raiders final home game of the season.
RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 11
Wisconsin-Stout - 12
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Maggie Sanderson got things started quickly after pass from Vayda Flower 30 seconds in for a quick MSOE (4-9, 2-3 NACC) lead. After Wisconsin-Stout (4-10, 0-5 CCIW) tied things up midway through the quarter, Alana Perry shortly after scored to take the lead ten seconds later. Goals from Sanderson and Lilly Johnson put the Raiders ahead 4-2 lead at the end of one.
- Johnson immediately had a free-position opportunity to start the second and converted before Flower netted one herself for the 6-2 lead. The Blue Devils tacked on two near the end of the first half to cut their deficit 6-4. The Raiders continued to outscore the Blue Devils in the third quarter as Flower, Sanderson, and Perry all connecting as the Raiders built up 9-6 after three.
- After trading goals with Johnson netting her third of the night, the Blue Devils went on a tear to tie things up with 4:48 remaining and taking the lead 40 seconds later. Adding an insurance goal with just over two minutes remaining, Johnson cut into the deficit with a remaining, but that was all the Raiders had left in the tank.
