MILWAUKEE, Wis. – MSOE softball hosted their Senior Day celebrations as the Spartans of Aurora visited Raiders Field on Saturday, in a potential playoff preview as the teams sat 4th and 5th in the NACC entering their afternoon doubleheader.

RESULTS
MSOE RAIDERS – 1
Aurora Spartans – 2

MSOE RAIDERS – 4
Aurora Spartans – 9

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Game One
    • The Raiders (15-19, 10-8 NACC) trailed the Spartans (25-8, 14-6 NACC) after a two-run homerun gave Aurora a 2-0 lead in the top of the third.  The Spartan's were locked in on the mound, holding the Raiders to one hit through four innings.
    • MSOE finally broke through in the bottom of the fifth, after Sadie Gaberell walked, Jocelyn Clodi roped a line drive double into the left center gap bringing Gaberell around to cut the deficit to one.  After a strong day pitch, Katie Pollock ripped a double to left field, giving MSOE a runner in scoring position with one out.  The Raiders were unable to bring the tying run across and fell 2-1 to start the doubleheader.
  • Game Two
    • Aurora found themselves ahead after a bases-loaded rally in the third inning, as the Raiders began to scratch away at the Spartans 3-0 lead.  With two outs in the bottom of the third, Jenna O'Donnell doubled into the deepest corner of right field, scoring Faith Matta and cutting the Raider deficit to two.
    • MSOE would tie the game up in the bottom of the fourth after an RBI single from Haley Murray, Alyssa Jacobson would step into the batters box and deliver a double into left field, as Murray narrowly beat the play at the plate to score the tying run at 3-3.
    • The Raiders would give up two more runs right after the tie, as the Spartans took the 5-3 lead.  A late solo homerun in the bottom of the sixth from Carlee Emery nearly cleared the entirety of Raiders Field and swung the momentum back in the Raiders favor, but Aurora sparked a 4-run rally in the top of the seventh, as MSOE fell 9-4 in a sweep to Aurora.
