ELMHURST, Ill. – The MSOE men's wrestling team took 3
rd at the Al Hanke Invite hosted by Elmhurst University on Wednesday night, as
Toren Vandenbush would be crowned champion at 165 pounds while the Raiders as a team would finish in 3
rd place with 122.5 team points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Liam Anderson recorded 15 points on his way to 5th place in the 133 bracket, as the sophomore delivered three victories via fall before an 11-1 major decision in the 5th place match against his opponent from Chicago University.
- Senior Max Sanderfoot took 2nd place at 141, with his only loss coming in the final bout of the tournament. Sanderfoot recorded threes wins over opponents from Carthage, Wisconsin Whitewater and Harper College.
- Connor Nagela took 3rd at 149 after three wins in the opening rounds of the tournament, all by decision as he would finish with 15 team points.
- Michael Smith took 4th at 157, scoring a 17-0 tech fall, followed up by a pinfall victory in just 1:37 as he went on to finish with 15.5 team points.
- Toren Vandenbush was the lone Raider to come out on top at the Al Hanke, as the freshman recorded four wins on the way to the crown. Vandenbush would score major decision wins in both the semi-finals and finals as the led the Red and White with a whopping 23.5 team points.
- Jackson Hughes would take 6th at 174, narrowly losing a 4-1 decision in the 5th place match, while Gavin Graham would take 5th at 184, winning a high scoring decision 18-12 in the 5th place match.
- Jake Schmitt took 8th at 197 with 7 team points as the junior from Shorewood, Illinois recorded a tech fall win over Harper College and a decision win against his opponent from Carthage.
