Softball Takes Defeats to Lancers and Rams

LEESBURG, Fla. – The MSOE softball team took the field for matchups against Worcester State University and Farmingdale State College Monday afternoon. The Raiders nearly completed the comeback before the Rams in game two put together a four-run inning to steal it.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • vs. Worcester State
    • Wasting no time in the top of the first, Worcester State (1-1, 0-0 MASCAC) put up three runs to take a quick lead before adding two more in second to take a 5-0 lead. MSOE (2-4, 0-0 NACC) answered to put a run on the board when Reese Konczal hit a blooper just past the shortstop to score Caroline Fouras.
    • The Lancers added one more to their total in the top of the fourth before Konczal added her second RBI of the day, hitting one to the left-center gap to score Autumn Sadler. Jenna O'Donnell brought the big bat yet again, getting another triple to score Emma Smith and cut the deficit to three. The Raiders tried their best to force extras after Carlee Emery and Olivia Beals drove in runs, but were cut short to drop 6-5.
  • vs. Farmingdale State
    • The Raiders came out with a mission as Jayda Nelson drove home Sadler for the first run of the game in the top of the first. Katie Pollock kept things scoreless until the fourth when Farmingdale State (2-2, 0-0 Skyline) put up a four-spot to take a 4-1 lead.
    • The Raiders loaded the bases in the top of the fifth but couldn't get any of them around to score. The final two innings saw two bases runners each be stranded as the drop dropped the second game 4-1. 
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES WHO'S ON DECK
The Raiders will have the day off before heading back to Hancock Park on Wednesday, March 19th to face off against Juniata College and Rutgers University-Camden. First pitch of game one is set for 11:30 AM ET with the second game set for 2:00 PM ET.
