HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game One
- Aurora (19-16, 14-8 NACC) didn't waste time to get on the scoreboard, taking advantage of a MSOE (21-14, 14-6 NACC) error in the top of the first for a run and then two more in the second. The Raiders cut into the deficit in the bottom of the third when JJ Jackson began the inning ripping a double down the left field line and then stealing third for Joe Stried to bring him in on a single. After Stried then stole second and moved to third when Christian Bosque singled into center, Stried came streaking home with Bosque creating chaos on the basepaths. The Spartans added to their lead in the fifth with a home run, making it 4-2.
- The Raiders tied up the ballgame in the seventh after Jake Franks and Jackson both reached and then Stried hit a hard-hit ball to third that the Spartans let get away to bring Franks in from second. Le forced another miscue from the Spartans, trying to force an out at second that was then overthrown to let Jackson come from second in to make it 4-4.
- In the eighth, Jack Kalitowksi and Charlie Claas reached to begin and worked their way around the basepaths to get in scoring position for Jake Franks to step in and bring them both around on a single to make it 6-4 for their first lead. Franks continued show the Raiders' brilliances on the bathpaths, advancing to second on the throw and then getting to third on a stolen base before reading a wild pitch from the Spartans for an insurance run to make it 7-4. In the ninth, Max Babich finished the job, striking out the final two batters to seal game one.
- Game Two
- The Spartans once again struck first, driving in a run in the top of the first but was quickly answered when in the bottom half, Le drove in Stried on a single into left to make it 1-1. Bosque got the Raiders the lead in the third after Stried opened the inning with a triple into left-center and then brought him in on a RBI single.
- The Raiders opened things up in the fourth as Claas and Franks began in the innings with singles and advanced up a base with a sacrifice bunt from Camden Hoier. Kalitowski brought them both in, singling into left and center before later coming in after the Raiders loaded the bases for Bosque and drew a walk. Le added one more in the inning, hitting a sacrifice fly to left to make it 5-1.
- The Spartans cut into the deficit in the fifth with a pair of runs to make it 7-3. The Raiders put together another big inning with Kalitowksi and Quinn Zills reaching to begin and Bosque ripping a deep double to score Kalitowksi. Le hit another sacrifice fly as Zills raced home to beat the tag, making it 7-3. Bosque and Jordan Skolmar raced home on a pair of plays to bring the lead to 9-3. The Spartans broke up the scoring with a run in the seventh that the Raiders answered in the eighth with an RBI from Kyle Mayberry with Zach Brzezinski finishing the job in the ninth.
