HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Game One
    • The power popped early as Jack Kalitowski led things off with a single through the left side as Christian Bosque ripped a deep ball to left center and raced around the bases all the way to home for an inside the park homerun for an early lead for MSOE (24-16, 18-6 NACC). AJ Le stepped in and ripped one into right-center for a triple before coming home on a Jordan Skolmar ground-rule double. Skolmar came in later two batters later on an RBI single from Jake Franks as the Raiders ended the first with a 4-0 lead.
    • Skolmar continue to showcase his extra-base ability, getting another RBI double scoring JJ Jackson and Le before right home after that on an RBI double from Kyle Mayberry to finish the second with a 7-0 lead. The Raiders then poured it on in the third, driving in eight runs with Franks having the highlight of a two-run home run to right for a 15-0 advantage.
    • Lakeland (11-28, 5-19 NACC) finally got on the scoreboard with a three-run frame in the fourth but that was all the Muskies could muster. Kalitowski in bottom half led off the inning taking a hit-by-pitch and then stole second to get into scoring position. Kalitowski wasn't done doing damage on the basepaths, stealing third and forcing an overthrow to come in to score. Two batters later, Skolmar took his power to another level, hitting a drive to deep left field for his sixth of the year. The Raiders put their final run on the board in the fifth getting the bases load and Camden Hoier taking a pitch to the body.
  • Game Two
    • Kalitowski set the tone once again in game two reaching on a single and then came all the way around when Le sent one into the right center gap for a triple for an early 1-0 lead. The Muskies didn't shy away early, tying up the game in the top half of the second at one.
    • After three quiet innings, the Raiders started to fire as Jackson opened the fifth with a walk and advanced to second on a groundout. Bosque and Le hit back-to-back extra base hits to score a pair of runs with Franks reaching on an infield single to score Kyle Mayberry. Miscues from the Muskies allowed another run in while Kalitowski drove in another run to give the Raiders a 7-1 lead. The Raiders tacted on their final run in the seventh on sacrifice fly from Charlie Claas before closing it out with ease the final two innings from Aagam Shah.
