Women's Tennis Stopped by Scarlet Hawks

CHICAGO - The MSOE women's tennis team clashed with rivals Illinois Tech on Wednesday night in their second conference bout of the season.  The Raiders would capture a point in doubles play, but the Scarlet Hawks would take five of six singles bouts for the Raiders first conference loss of the year.

RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 2
Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks – 5

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Raiders #3 Doubles team of Emily Gutknecht and Simona Sulminas picked up the first win of the day for the Raiders with a 6-3 victory to open the matches at XS Tennis Center.  After the Scarlet Hawks took the #2 match, the Red and White's #1 team of freshmen Ana Clara Kamiyama and Lana Brooks went the distance as they locked up the doubles point with a marathon 7-5 win.
  • Kamiyama would go to a thrilling third set tiebreaker in her match from the #1 singles slot, picking up a 10-7 win in the third set to secure another win for the Red and White, but it proved to be too little too late as the Scarlet Hawks took the other five singles bouts with MSOE falling to their conference rivals.
WHO'S ON DECK
The Raiders will host Edgewood College at McKinley Marina Tennis Courts on Saturday, September 13th.  The conference matchup is scheduled to start at 10:00 A.M.
