Men Victorious over Oshkosh; Women Fall to Titans

OSHKOSH, Wis. – The MSOE swimming & diving teams had one final tune-up before the conference championships, facing off against University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, with them men coming away victorious and the women falling to the Titans.

MEN'S TEAM RECAP 
  • Connor Homes led a 1-2 finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle, hitting the mat in 10:30.93 while Noah Cheng was right behind in in 10:32.13. The two also finished 1-2 in the 500-yard freestyle as Homes went 5:04.37 and Cheng in 5:05.62. Garin Schilling won the 100-yard backstoke in 56.47 and Riley Melum was right behind him in second in 58.83 for second, while another 1-2 finish happened in the 100-yard breaststroke as Blake Bubniak won in 1:01.54 and he narrowly beat Marcus Roszak in second in 1:01.97. Joven Langseth also led a 1-2 finish in the 200-yard butterfly, cruising to victory in 2:05.54 as Cam Conley came in second in 2:16.88.
  • Paddy Houston won the 100-yard breaststroke in 50.87 as he also snagged a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly in 57.19, ahead of Owen Dassie in third in 57.19. In the relays, Schilling, Roszak, Melum, and Conley won the 200-yard medley in 1:41.83. In the diving events, Nate Kissel won marginally in the 3-meter diving, totaling 270.64 points.
WOMEN'S TEAM RECAP  
  • The women picked up victories on the day, first coming from Kenzie Solberg in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:07.26 and then Chloe Pisanelli in the 200-yard breaststoke in 2:39.21. Anna Baker finished second in the 50-yard freestyle in 26.80, just ahead of Ava Pike in third in 26.93. Jayden Buenemann finished second in the 200-yard IM, finishing in a time of 2:26.20. Over in the relays, Baker, Jocelyn Katte, Maribelle Moyer, and Pike took second in the 200-yard medley in 2:00.02.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Raiders will now prepare for their first Midwest Conference Championship, hosted by Grinnell College. Events are set to begin on Thursday, February 19th, with them wrapping on Sunday.
