ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. – The MSOE softball team continued their slate at the Pioneer Classic on Saturday night, with the Red and White run-ruling Anderson University to kick-off their doubleheader.  The Raiders would go on to best Maryville College in the second game, sweeping the day in a bounce-back effort.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• vs Anderson
  • MSOE (3-5) tied things up with the Ravens after a bases loaded walk from Rikka Ludvigson knotted things up at 1-1 in the bottom of the first.  After the walk from the freshman, Reese Konczal would crush a double to left field, clearing the bases and building the MSOE lead to 4-1 after a single inning of play.
  • The Raiders would add one run apiece in both the second and fifth innings, as Ludvigson and Lylah DeArmond each recorded sacrifice flies.  In the bottom of the sixth, an error from Anderson upped the Red and White's lead to six runs, with an RBI single from Jayda Nelson putting MSOE within one run of ending the game early.  Ultimately DeArmond would score the game-ending run on a passed ball, scampering home as the Raiders won via run-rule in game one of day two.
• vs Maryville
  • In game two, the Raiders would jump out to an early 4-0 lead over the Scots following an RBI single from DeArmond, adding to the lead after two Raiders were hit by pitches with the bases loaded and a fielder's choice.  Maryville would take advantage of an MSOE error in the third inning, tying the game at 4-4.
  • Caroline Fouras would cross the plate in the fourth after Nelson hit into a fielder's choice, with the Red and White regaining the lead 5-4.  A double from Carlee Emery would be enough to bring Nelson all the way around, upping MSOE's lead to 6-4.  After the Scots brought the game within a run, Ludvigson would smash a double to left center, bringing Brynn Kerber around as the Red and White locked up the afternoon sweep with the 7-5 win.

The Raiders close out the Pioneer Classic against Millikin University and Hanover College tomorrow, Sunday, March 15^th.  Game one against Hanover is set for an 11:00 A.M. (ET) start.
