MSOE RAIDERS – 8
Aurora - 10
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (2-9, 1-2 NACC) came out in full force to open the game as Joce Katte struck just 50 seconds for the early lead as Alana Perry connected just 42 seconds after that to lead 2-0. Aurora (5-6, 3-0 NACC) answered with a goal at the 8:42 to cut the deficit in half but the Raiders controlled the possession right off the draw control as Ashlyn Bode found Katte for the answer to make it 3-1, holding at the end of the first.
- The Spartans went on a two-goal run to tie the game at three to open the second. The Spartans nearly held the Raiders nearly scoreless until 25 seconds remained when Chloe Ninmann stole a pass right at her own 12-meter mark and raced down field for the quick strike to take a 4-3 lead at the break. The Spartans grabbed serious momentum to open the second half, going on a four-goal run with the last three on man-up opportunities, to lead 7-4. Maggie Sanderson ended the scoring run with 3:18 remaining in the quarter with the Spartans answered with 20 seconds left to lead 8-5 at the end of three.
- Midway through the fourth the Raiders began to start a comeback as Sanderson picked up the ball in their own offensive end for a goal with Ninmann just two minutes later scoring to cut the score to 8-7. The Spartans added a pair of insurance goals after that to bring the lead to 10-7, but Ninmann added one more immediately after for another run at a comeback but fell short.
