Box Score MILWAUKEE – Freshman Maria Bintz had a game-high 15 kills to go with 13 digs to lead the MSOE women's volleyball team to a four-set 25-22, 21-25, 25-22, 25-21 win over Rockford Saturday evening at the Kern Center.
The Raiders (9-10, 3-3 NACC) have now won four-straight matches, including three-straight NACC contests to even their conference mark at 3-3.
The teams split the first two sets, as they were close throughout. In the first, MSOE scored four of the final five points to break a 21-21 tie. Then, the Regents responded in set two, jumping out to an early 13-5 lead. The home team fought back to tie at 15-15 and led at 22-21, but RU took the set with four-straight points.
In the third set, the Red and White jumped out early 11-4, but RU once again battled back. The Regents would eventually take the lead at 22-20, but the Raiders closed out the frame with the final five points. The fourth set was another back-and-forth frame and the Raiders opened on a 6-1 run, but saw the visitors answer with a 9-2 stretch. MSOE would eventually pull away late.
Freshman Rachel Lynde added 12 kills for MSOE, while freshman Sarabeth Haworth notched eight to go with 22 digs and sophomore Leah Hendricks finished with seven.
Bintz was one of two Raiders with double-doubles, as junior Martha Savory had 41 assists to go with 22 digs. Five players had 10+ digs as the team finished with a season-high 103 in the match. Junior Ali LoBue had 13 and junior Amy Gustafson notched 12.
MSOE returns to action Tuesday, hosting Lakeland at the Kern Center. The match starts at 7 p.m.
