Box Score MILWAUKEE – Freshman Maria Bintz had 12 kills and freshman Rachel Lynde finished with 10 as the MSOE women's volleyball team defeated Aurora 25-18, 25-21, 25-19 Friday evening at the Kern Center.
The Raiders (10-11, 4-4 NACC) have now won five of their last six matches, including four-of-five in conference play.
MSOE was in control of all three matches, using an 11-3 run in the first set to open up a 23-14 lead. AU eventually fought off a pair of set points, but the Raiders put it away on a kill by sophomore Leah Hendricks. Set two saw the Red and White with an early six-point lead, which sat at 18-11 late. The Spartans staged a comeback to pull within 19-17, but MSOE kept its composure and pulled away down the stretch.
In the final set, the Raiders jumped ahead 9-3 and grew their lead to 19-11. Aurora again rallied a bit, but it was too late as the home team scored five of the final eight points to take the match in three sets.
Hendricks added eight kills, while freshman Sarabeth Haworth finished with seven kills and 16 digs. Junior Ali Borelli directed the offense efficiently with 29 assists to go with nine digs.
The Raiders return to action Saturday, hosting Dominican at the Kern Center at 6 p.m. in their regular season home finale.
