MSOE Drops Home Finale To Dominican

Box Score

MILWAUKEE – The MSOE women's volleyball team fell to Dominican 25-16, 25-7, 25-20 in its home finale Saturday evening at the Kern Center.

The Raiders (10-12, 4-5 NACC) have still won five of their last seven matches and remain in the hunt for a bid into the NACC Tournament entering the final week of the regular season.

In set one, MSOE came out strong and held the lead at 10-9. DU responded with a 5-0 run to take control and then began to pull away down the stretch. The visitors would end the frame on a 6-1 run. It was all Dominican in the second set. The Stars scored 16-straight points to expand on a slight 6-5 lead and coast to the set win.

The Raiders rebounded for their best set in the final frame, fighting point for point with the Stars. After modest runs by both teams in the beginning, they traded points much of the set. Unfortunately, DU took over late, scoring the final seven of the final 10 points to take the match.

Freshman Maria Bintz led the Red and White offense with nine kills, while fellow frosh Sarabeth Haworth tallied seven kills and a team-high 13 kills.

The Raiders return to action Wednesday evening at Edgewood. They then close out the regular season next Saturday at Marian.
