Box Score RIPON, Wis. – Ripon College hit .345 on the night in handing the MSOE women's volleyball team a 3-1 (25-18, 25-20, 23-25, 25-19) defeat Wednesday evening.
The Raiders (3-6) played the Red Hawks tough throughout the match, but could not overcome Ripon's efficient attack.
In the opening set, the score was even at 15-15 before a 7-0 Red Hawk run put the home team in the driver's seat and never looked back. The Raiders used a 7-1 run of their own in the third set, but had to fight Ripon off down the stretch before holding on for the set win.
The decisive fourth set featured a 13-5 Ripon run to start, but, once again, MSOE fought back and was within two late before falling.
Freshman Sarabeth Haworth (Colorado Springs, Co. / Mesa Ridge) paced the Raider attack with 13 kills, while freshman Rachel Lynde (Colorado Springs, Co. / Rampart) added 11 to go with four service aces. Junior Ali Borrelli (Manhattan, Ill. / Peotone) had 38 assists in the match and 13 digs to lead the defensive effort.
MSOE returns to action Saturday, hosting a quadrangular with Maranatha, Carroll and Marian. The Raiders will play Carroll and Maranatha in matches beginning at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
