ROCKFORD, Ill. – Freshman Michelle Lee (Oak Creek, Wis. / Oak Creek) won both of her matches at No. 3 singles to lead the MSOE women's tennis team to a split in matches at Rockford and Edgewood Saturday.
The Raiders (2-8, 2-6 NACC) defeated Rockford (0-5, 0-5 NACC) in Illinois in the morning by a score of 8-1. Then, MSOE headed to Madison, where it fell to Edgewood (7-3, 6-0 NACC) by the same score.
Lee was perfect on the day, claiming her singles win at Rockford 6-2, 6-1. Then, she teamed with freshman Kelsey Weinkauf (Elkhart, Ind. / Jimtown) for an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles. At Edgewood, Lee was MSOE's lone winner taking her match 6-1, 6-3. Weinkauf was also a singles winner at Rockford, playing at No. 4 singles and winning 6-1, 6-2.
Junior Marly Trier (Port Washington, Wis. / Port Washington), sophomore Michelle Roubik (Muskego, Wis. / Muskego) and senior Ashley Albrecht (Brookfield, Wis. / Central) each posted wins in singles and doubles against the Regents. Trier won at No. 1 singles 7-5, 6-1 and teamed with Roubik for a doubles win in the No. 1 slot, 8-2. Roubik played her singles at No. 2 and posted a 6-3, 6-2 win.
Albrecht played at No. 5 singles and won 8-4 when the team result was already decided. At No. 3 doubles, she teamed with sophomore Melanie Avery () for an 8-5 win.
Saturday's matches were the fifth in five days for the Raiders. They cap off their long week Sunday, travelling to Beloit to take on the Buccaneers at 11 a.m.
