Box Score RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Concordia Chicago scored the game's lone goal in the 31st minute and its defense made it hold up as the MSOE women's soccer team dropped its first NACC game of the season to the Cougars 1-0 Saturday afternoon at Concordia Stadium.
The Raiders (3-6, 2-1 NACC) held a 19-11 shot advantage, but it was not enough as the Cougars' (5-2-1, 1-2 NACC) Callie Hasselbring stopped all nine of their shots on goal.
Alyssa Soulis tallied her seventh goal of the season unassisted in the first half to provide all of the offense the home team would need. MSOE was not without offense, holding a commanding 12-4 shot advantage, but was unable to get a shot past Hasselbring.
The match opened up a bit in the second half as the Raiders pushed forward for an equalizing goal. The offensive play evened out, as each team took seven shots, but neither defense relented.
Freshman Sydney Stephens (Chesterfield, Mo. / Parkway Central) made three saves in goal for MSOE. Sophomore Caitlin Liddiard (Waukesha, Wis. / South) paced the offensive efforts with six shots, while senior Paula Bohl (Muskego, Wis. / Muskego) attempted four.
The Raiders are back in action Wednesday with a mid-week break from NACC play. They will host Augustana at MSOE Field at 7 p.m.
