Box Score APPLETON, Wis. – Sophomore Logan Andryk (Hartland, Wis./Marquette) scored a goal for the second-straight game to lead the MSOE men's soccer team to a 1-1 draw at Lawrence early Wednesday evening at Whiting Field West.
The Raiders (1-0-2) fell behind in the 52nd minute off a Viking (1-1-1) penalty kick, but equalized a hair less than 10 minutes later to seal the draw.
MSOE conceded a third penalty kick over the last two games in the 52nd minute. Junior Garrett Farin (Madison, Wis./East) saved a pair of PKs last Saturday, but Dan O'Mahoney was able to step up to the penalty spot and convert for his first goal of the season and put LU ahead.
Andryk got the Red and White on the board on a counter-attack goal just 10 minutes later. After Farin made a save on the defensive end, the Raiders wasted very little time working the ball down the field. Freshman Aleksander Spasic (Hudson, Wis./Hudson) picked out Andryk with a pass and MSOE's All-American put it in the back of the net to knot the game at 1-1.
MSOE looked to have the advantage in overtime, outshooting Lawrence 7-3 in the extra period, including three shots on goal. For the match, the Raiders held a 20-16 advantage in shots, but conceded an 8-1 edge in corner kicks.
Farin finished the game with six saves, while Joe Krivit was forced to make nine saves for the Vikings.
The Raiders return to action this weekend, hosting the Raider Invitational Friday and Saturday at MSOE Field. They will open their tourney play with North Park at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
