RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Junior Marly Trier (Port Washington, Wis. / Port Washington) won all four of her matches and sophomore Melanie Avery (Bollingbrook, Ill. / Neuqua Valley) won two, but it was not enough as the MSOE women's tennis team dropped a pair of conference matches in the Chicagoland area Saturday.
The Raiders (1-4) fell to Dominican in the morning, 7-2. They returned to action in the afternoon at Concordia Chicago, but lost the final two singles matches in dropping a 5-4 decision to the Cougars.
Trier was perfect on the day, winning at No. 1 singles against both opponents. In the opener against DU, she was victorious 6-4, 6-2. She returned against CUC to score a 6-1, 7-5 victory. In doubles competition, Trier teamed with sophomore Michelle Roubik (Muskego, Wis. / Muskego) for a pair of wins. The Raider pair defeated duos from both schools 8-5.
Trier is now 4-1 at No. 1 singles this season, while her and Roubik have combined on a 3-1 mark at the top doubles position.
Avery won at No. 5 singles and No. 3 doubles against the Cougars. In singles play, she was victorious 6-0, 6-1. Then, teaming with freshman Kelsey Weinkauf (), she helped score another point for MSOE with an 8-2 win.
The Red and White return to action Tuesday, hosting Concordia Wisconsin at 4 p.m.
