Box Score LISLE, Ill. – Sophomore Sara Travia scored a goal and assisted on two others to lead the MSOE women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Benedictine Saturday afternoon at the Lisle Sport Complex.
Junior Caitlin Liddiard scored the game-winning goal for the Raiders (8-4-1, 4-1 NACC) for the third-straight match as she got the scoring started against the Eagles (3-10-1, 1-4 NACC).
Liddiard's 11th goal of the season came in the 21st minute off an assist from Travia. Travia played a through ball to Liddiard, who finished to make it 1-0.
The match was working toward a 1-0 final, until MSOE put little doubt in the result with a pair of scores in the final nine minutes.
Travia pulled away from Liddiard atop the team's scoring chart with her 12th goal of the season in the 82nd minute. Freshman Missy Schultz played a through ball to Travia, who beat the keeper to the pass, and finished into the net.
Just under five minutes later, Travia worked the ball into the penalty area herself and found freshman Adriana Garsow with a cross in front of the goal. The rookie forward swept the ball past the keeper for her second goal in three matches.
Defensively, the Raiders limited the Eagles to eight shots in the match and freshman Mary McFee stooped all four shots on goal for her third shutout of the season and the team's seventh.
MSOE is now 4-1 in NACC play and is in a tie for third place in the conference standings. The team returns to action Tuesday at Aurora, which is currently first at 6-0.
