Box Score MILWAUKEE – The MSOE women's soccer team surrendered a pair of goals in each half and could not recover in falling to Concordia Wisconsin 4-1 Saturday afternoon at Viets Field.
The Raiders (8-6-1, 4-3 NACC) pulled back a goal late in the first half and played tough in the second, but could not get any closer to the Falcons (10-5, 5-2 NACC) down the stretch.
CUW got on the board midway through the opening frame, as Carley Pfannerstill got on the end of a pass from Krista Oelhafen. The visitors doubled their lead just over 11 minutes later on the first of two Brittany Kulmp goals in the match.
MSOE got on the board in the final minute of the first half, as freshman Kassidy Girmscheid scored her second goal of the season. She collected a ball at the top of the penalty area and beat two defenders inside before unleashing a shot far post.
The Raiders gained more traction in the second half, but was unable to solve the CUW defense. They outshot the visitors 10-4 in the half and did have a couple strong chances. With just over 24 minutes in the match, junior Caitlin Liddiard had a low, driving free kick saved at the post.
Then, in the final minute, sophomore Sara Travia hit the cross bar and Liddiard's follow up went wide.
At the other end of the field, the Falcons secured the match with a pair of second-half scores. Anna Hirssig headed in a corner kick in the 55th minute and Klumpp added her second goal of the game in the 77th for insurance.
Shots finished 15-15 in the game, while freshman keeper Mary McFee was called on for seven saves. Ariana Worthing stopped four of the five MSOE shots on goal for the Falcons.
The Raiders return to the field Wednesday at Dominican.
