Raiders Undone in Sweep at Dominican

Box Score

RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The MSOE women's volleyball team was limited to 19 kills and a .086 attack percentage in falling to Dominican 25-14, 25-9, 25-23 Saturday evening at Igini Sports Forum.

The Raiders (10-13, 4-5 NACC) were led in scoring by sophomore Maria Bintz's eight kills and two service aces, but it was not enough against the Stars (19-8, 9-0 NACC).

MSOE struggled to get its offense on track in the early going, hitting .045 with just four kills and three errors in the first set. Those numbers dipped to a -.125 attack percentage, three kills and ive errors. As the score indicates, the Raiders put up a fight in the final set by hitting .219 with 12 kills.

Caitlen Foote paced the home team with 12 kills and hit .417. Dominican hit .367 as a team and had 12 service aces.

The Stars used an early 7-0 run to take control of the first set before steadily pulling away down the stretch. In the second, the home team broke a 5-5 tie with another seven-point run as part of a massive 20-4 run to close out the set for a 2-0 advantage.

The Raiders kept things close in the final set, rebounding each time DU looked to pull away. The score was 19-12 before a 6-1 Red & White run made it a two-point game at 20-18. While MSOE did not catch up in the frame, it did alternate points down the stretch and push the set to the limit within regulation.

The Raiders return to action Wednesday, hosting Edgewood at the Kern Center.
