MILWAUKEE – Sophomores Rachel Lynde and Maria Bintz had 11 kills apiece to lead the MSOE women's volleyball team into action against Edgewood Wednesday night, a 25-15, 23-25, 25-18, 25-20 loss at the Kern Center.

The Raiders (10-13, 4-5 NACC) rebounded from a tough first set to claim the second and hang tough with the Eagles (17-11, 7-2 NACC) throughout the remainder of the evening.

Aside from Lynde and Bintz, sophomore Sarabeth Haworth had seven kills and 10 digs, while junior Leah Hendricks notched six kills. Freshman Abby Born finished with 33 assists and 13 digs.

Savannah Koester paced Edgewood with 14 kills and Jordan Winkler tallied 13.

The early portion of the opening set featured a pair of ties, two more lead changes and was not separated by more than two points leading to a 14-14 tie. From that point on, it was all Eagles as the visitors rattled off 10-straight points to get match point at 24-14. The Red & White resisted for a point, but succumb to EC.

Edgewood looked to jump out early in set two, jumping ahead 8-3. The Raiders bounced back, getting even with five-straight points. The teams traded points, leading to a 10-9 score and eventually a 14-14 tie. MSOE started to pull away with a 6-2 run to, seemingly, take control of the set. The team was serving for set point at 24-20 when the Eagles rallied within 24-23 before an error sealed the frame for the Raiders.

The visitors came back to take the final two sets to claim the match. EC utilized an 8-0 run to turn a 9-8 deficit into a 16-9 lead in the third set and never looked back. The final frame was another close affair early, as MSOE led 16-15 just after the midway point. The Eagles took the lead for good with four-straight points and closed out the match on a 6-2 run.

MSOE closes out the home portion of its schedule Saturday, hosting Marian at 7 p.m. in a match that is also its NACC finale.
