Box Score MILWAUKEE – The MSOE men's soccer team scored six times to defeat Lakeland 6-1 Saturday afternoon at the Kern Center and clinch at least a share of the NACC Regular Season Championship heading into its regular season finale Wednesday.
For the Raiders (15-3, 9-0 NACC), it's their first conference title since 1986. They can secure the title outright, and the conference tournament No. 1 seed along with it, by winning or drawing at Dominican (8-1 NACC) Wednesday. Kick-off in that match is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Freshman Braden Andryk helped get MSOE off to a fast start, striking for a pair of goals and assisting on another in the first half. He added another assist late in leading the team to their seventh-straight victory and school-record 15th of the season.
Andryk put the Raiders ahead in the 22nd minute off an assist from senior Silas Linares. Linares then doubled the advantage with an unassisted score in the 34th minute.
Lakeland halved the deficit just over two minutes later when Zachary Kline put back his own rebound on a shot in the box.
The one-point lead was short-lived as junior Logan Andryk took an assist from Braden and beat the keeper 1v1. It was then 4-1 heading into halftime when senior Drew Porter set up Braden Andryk's second goal of the frame in the 41st minute.
MSOE outshot the visitors 19-3 in the opening half, putting 12 of those shots on goal.
Each of the Andryks then set up goals in the second half as the Raiders added to their lead. First, a Logan corner kick was volleyed at the far post into the net by senior Marius Prestin in the 59th minute. Then, in the 83rd minute, Braden returned the favor with Porter, setting up the senior's fourth goal of the season.
Senior Garrett Farin made a pair of saves in the match for his school-record 15th win in goal. The team's 15 wins this season tied the school record set by the 1986 squad, the program's only other title-winning team.
