Box Score MILWAUKEE – Sophomore Sara Travia had a hat trick and junior Caitlin Liddiard had a hand in five goals to lead the MSOE women's soccer team to a 10-0 rout of Lakeland Saturday afternoon at Viets Field.
With the win, the Raiders (9-7-1, 5-4 NACC) clinched a place in next week's NACC Tournament.
Liddiard scored two goals and assisted on three others, while junior Natalie Gayner also had a pair of scores. Freshmen provided the rest of the offense, with Missy Schultz notching her third goal of the season and Anoosha Baladi and Melina Lynn scoring their first collegiate scores.
Gayner got the scoring started in the eighth minute, with Liddiard following 1:22 later with her first goal of the match. Gayner made it 3-0 with her second score just 2:06 after that.
Liddiard had assisted on Gayner's second goal and set up Travia's first in the 19th minute to give the Raiders a 4-0 lead that they carried into halftime.
MSOE's offensive pressure continued into the second half, even as the team rotated its lineup.
Liddiard scored her second goal just 20 seconds into the second half and led to a flurry of goals scored shortly thereafter.
Schultz started the binge in the 50th minute and Travia scored the first of two consecutive goals just over two minutes later. She capped her hat trick just 75 seconds later to make it 8-0.
Baladi tallied her goal in the 65th minute with some help from freshman Kayla Thilges, while Lynn's 70th-minute strike was also courtesy of a fellow frosh in Carley Mitus.
The Raiders outshot Lakeland 32-2 in the match, putting 21 shots on goal. A pair of keeper combined to make 11 saves. Three keepers saw times in the nets for MSOE as every healthy available player saw time, but none was called on to make a save.
The Red & White close out the regular season Tuesday, hosting Edgewood at Viets Field.
