Box Score PLYMOUTH, Wis. – Junior Austin Stueck scored 24 points and sophomore Collin Seubert added 21, but it was not enough as the MSOE men's basketball team fell to Lakeland 88-77 Tuesday evening at Woltzen Gymnasium.
The Raiders (5-6, 2-4 NACC) trailed by as many as 24, but fought back late to within seven late against the Muskies (8-1, 5-1 NACC).
Stueck added eight rebounds, six assists and four steals for MSOE. Junior Connor Patterson finished with 13 points and seven rebounds.
Joey Burris led Lakeland with 18 points. Travis Kell scored 16 points and Derick Denny had 15.
The Raiders shot 53.8 percent in the first half, but turned the ball over 11 times in falling behind 50-35 at halftime. The home team opened its advantage to a game-high at 24 points at 70-46 with 11:28 remaining.
MSOE responded with a 27-10 run that put it in the hunt of the game. Senior Jeremiah Erdmann hit a layup with 1:24 to make it 80-73. Unfortunately, the Muskies went 8-for-8 from the free throw line over the final 90 seconds, while the Red & White had a pair of empty possessions to stymie its comeback efforts.
The Raiders shot 45.5 percent in the game, but hit on just 6-of-19 from three-point range and was 11-of-22 at the free throw line. They cleaned up their game with just three second–half turnovers and finished with 14.
Lakeland finished at 45.2 percent from the field and posted an identical 6-for-19 three-point clip. The difference was at the free throw line, where the Muskies were shot 26-of-32 (.813).
MSOE has the holidays off, returning to action Jan. 3 at Concordia Chicago.
