Box Score ELMHURST, Ill. – Seniors David Miklosi and Wes Stasik each knocked out three hits as the MSOE baseball team built a 5-0 before falling to Elmhurst 7-5 Wednesday afternoon at Butterfield Park.
The Raiders (12-15) carried their lead into the bottom of the sixth, but the Blue Jays (15-19) scored three runs in back-to-back frames to pull ahead and take the game.
Miklosi had a pair of doubles and two RBIs, while Stasik scored twice and drove in a run. MSOE scored twice in the opening frame and added single runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings.
Elmhurst capitalized on a two-out error in the sixth inning to extend the inning and get on the board with a three-run home run. The Blue Jays made it 7-5 in the seventh inning with the first four batters of the inning reaching base and coming around to score.
Senior Luke Yogerst got the start and was in control with five scoreless frames before the sixth inning. He allowed five hits and three unearned runs in 5.2 innings of work, striking out four and walking one. Junior Zach Almberg (1-1) took the loss in relief, getting the final out of the sixth inning, but allowing four runs to start the seventh. Freshman Brandon McCumber finished out the game with a pair of scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out four.
Back-to-back Raiders were hit by pitches to start the game, coming around to score on a Miklosi double and McCumber ground out. Miklosi's second double in the third inning plated another run and made it 3-0. A run-scoring double by sophomore Tyler Parisi in the fourth inning and a Stasik RBI single in the sixth inning capped the scoring for the Red and White.
MSOE closes out the regular season Sunday, hosting Carroll in a doubleheader at Henry Aaron Field.
