Box Score 2 BELOIT, Wis. – The Raiders hit around .250 in both matches Saturday, as the MSOE women's volleyball team split its two matches on the second day of Beloit College's Buc Blast Saturday to take second place at the tournament.
MSOE (3-1) defeated the host Buccaneers (0-4) in its first match of the day 25-18, 21-25, 25-20, 25-14, before falling to tourney champ Ripon (4-0) 25-19, 25-13, 24-26, 25-21, in the final match of the day.
Sophomore Sarabeth Haworth continued her outstanding weekend with two more big double-doubles Saturday. She led the Raiders against BC with 15 kills and 29 digs. Sophomore Maria Bintz added 15 kills and 14 digs, while sophomore Rachel Lynde notched 12 kills.
In the second match, Haworth hit .361 on her way to 19 kills and added 32 digs. Junior Leah Hendricks had 12 kills and Lynde finished with 10 more. Freshman Aleah Quast aided the defense with 26 more digs.
MSOE hit .256 in the first match and .248 in match two.
For the weekend, Haworth notched 75 kills and 120 digs in four matches. She averaged 4.41 kills and 7.06 digs per set, while hitting .351. As a team, the Raiders had a strong weekend with 13.12 kills and 21.59 digs per set and hit .235 as a team.
The Red & White return to action Sept. 10 at Lawrence.
