MILWAUKEE – Freshman Carly Grant extended her singles winning streak to five matches and senior Marly Trier won a pair of singles matches to lead the MSOE women's tennis team in a pair of NACC matches Saturday at McKinley Courts.
The Raiders (1-9, 1-5 NACC) played Dominican in the morning and hosted Concordia Chicago in the afternoon, dropping both matches by a score of 6-3.
Grant was nearly perfect on the day, winning both of her singles matches in the No. 2 position and adding a No. 1 doubles win against Dominican. She won 6-3, 6-3 against Dominican, but had to fight back from a 6-1 loss in the first set against CUC for the 1-6, 6-1, 6-0 victory. She is now a team-best 7-3 in singles play, including 4-2 in the NACC.
Trier, the No. 1 singles player, boasted a 6-4, 6-2 win in the first match and 6-1, 6-3 in the nightcap. She has a three-match winning streak going and is now 5-5 this season. She has matched Grant's NACC record at 4-2. The duo won their doubles bout against the Stars by a score of 8-3.
Also scoring a point on the day was the duo of juniors Melanie Avery and Brittany Kelley. They teamed at No. 3 doubles against Concordia and sored the 8-5 win.
MSOE returns to the road this week, playing at Marian Tuesday.
