FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The MSOE women's tennis team posted four singles wins and added two more points in doubles play to post a 6-3 road victory over Marian Tuesday afternoon at Buttermilk Creek Park.
The Raiders (2-9, 2-5 NACC) saw their top two singles players extend winning streaks and got strong play throughout the lineup in handing the Sabres (1-9, 0-7 NACC) the loss.
Senior Marly Trier won her fourth-straight match playing at No. 1 singles, winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-0. Her doubles partner, No. 2 Carly Grant, extended her own singles winning streak to six matches without dropping a game, 6-0, 6-0. The duo was just as strong in doubles play, teaming for an 8-1 win in the No. 1 spot.
The duo has shined once conference play started, posting identical 5-2 records in singles and improving to 4-3 against the conference as doubles partners.
MSOE also received singles victories from juniors in the No. 4 and No. 5 positions. Melanie Avery won 6-4, 6-1 as the fourth player, while Kelley secured another perfect win for MSOE at No. 5, 6-0, 6-0. Avery and Kelley also paired at No. 3 doubles and came away with an 8-2 win.
The Raiders had their Friday match at Carroll cancelled, so they will now be in action next with a split doubleheader Saturday. MSOE plays at Ripon at 9 a.m. and returns home to host UW-River Falls at 2 p.m.
