Box Score 2 RIPON, Wis. – The MSOE women's volleyball team played a pair of five-set matches on the final day of the Red Hawk Invitational Saturday, defeating UW-Superior and falling to Dubuque at Wyman Gymnasium.
The Raiders (6-7) fell behind UW-Superior 2-0 for the second time this season, but once again fought back to sting the Yellow Jackets in five sets. In the second match against the Spartans, MSOE won the first and fourth sets, but ran out of gas in the decisive frame.
Sophomore Maria Bintz had a big day, leading the Red & White against UWS with 21 kills and did not commit an attack error to hit .568. Freshman Abby Born guided the offense with 59 assists as the team hit .308. The Raiders won the match by scores of 23-25, 15-25, 25-18, 25-21, 15-12.
Against Dubuque, Bintz added 19 more kills in a 15-25, 25-23, 27-29, 25-21, 15-7 loss. She hit .484 in the match, while junior Leah Hendricks notched 13 kills, hit .370 and racked up six aces. The Red & White hit .350 as a team for the match.
After a strong performance over the two-day event, Bintz was named to the all-tournament team.
MSOE returns to action Wednesday, hosting Concordia Wisconsin at the Kern Center.
