Box Score MILWAUKEE – Concordia Wisconsin hit .341 for the match and was too much for the MSOE women's volleyball team to overcome in a three-set loss Wednesday evening at the Kern Center.
The Raiders (6-8, 1-1 NACC) rebounded from a tough first set to compete with the visiting Falcons (10-3, 2-0 NACC) over the final two frames in the 25-13, 25-21, 25-16 match.
Sophomore Maria Bintz led MSOE with nine kills, while junior Kasey Mylin had six kills and hit .308 for the match.
CUW was led by Lauren Nevinski, who tallied 12 kills and attacked at a .733 clip for the match. Ashley Jehlicka jlined her in double-digits for kills with 10.
Concordia jumped out to early leads in each, breaking 2-2 ties with runs of six points in each of the first two. In the opening set, the visitors followed up their early run with several scoring spurts to pull away even more and take the frame.
The Raiders bounced back in set two, answering CUW's 6-0 run with a 7-0 run for a 9-8 advantage. The teams traded points with the Falcons taking the lead and slowly inching away. Concordia used another 6-0 run in the final set to pull ahead 10-4 early. The deficit proved too much for the Red & White to overcome in dropping the decisive set.
The Raiders have the weekend off, returning to action Oct. 3-4 with conference matches in Illinois. They play at Benedictine that Friday and Concordia Chicago Saturday.
