WAUWATOSA, Wis. – The MSOE women's tennis team took two doubles points and won the top two singles points, but it was not enough as Wisconsin Lutheran closed out the Raiders' NACC season with a 5-4 defeat Saturday afternoon at Hart Park.
MSOE (2-13, 2-8 NACC) also dropped a 7-2 decision at Concordia Wisconsin earlier in the day.
Against the Vikings, senior Marly Trier and freshman Carly Grant teamed for an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles, while juniors Melanie Avery and Brittany Kelley also claimed an 8-6 victory to give the Red & White a 2-1 lead heading into singles play.
Trier overcame a first-set loss to win 6-7, 7-5, 6-3 at No. 1 singles and Grant posted a 6-0, 6-0 win in the No. 2 position, but WLC claimed the last four points to take the match.
Grant's win was her 10th-straight singles victory, as she topped her opponent from CUW by a score of 6-4, 6-3. In doubles play, her and Trier also won against the Falcons by an 8-6 score to extend their doubles win stream to five matches. Overall, the pair have won 10 of their last 11 doubles matches.
MSOE is back on the courts next week with a pair of non-conference matches at Carthage Wednesday and Mount Mary Thursday.
