Box Score MILWAUKEE - Senior Marius Prestin scored two goals and his countryman senior Jorn Witte added another to lead the MSOE men's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over Lawrence in front of a school-record crowd of 625 fans Wednesday evening at Viets Field.
The Raiders (2-1) were led by their German goal-scorers, while junior Logan Andryk added a goal and two assists help undo the Vikings (0-3).
Witte got the scoring started in just the seventh minute. Andryk took a long throw-in from the near side. His toss found the 6-foot-7 Witte at the far post for a header into the goal.
Andryk then got his name on the scoresheet and doubled the MSOE advantage with his first goal of the season on a 35-yard bomb just under four minutes later. He collected a pass from sophomore Aleksander Spasic and lofted a long shot to the far post and over the out-stretched finger tips of the Viking keeper.
It was another Andryk setting up the third Raider goal, as freshman Braden Andryk picked out junior Trevor Cwiok at the far post on a corner kick in the 36th minute. Cwiok sent his header into the ground and Prestin put the ball in the net with a diving header off the bounce.
The 3-0 scoreline at halftime was representative of how the first half was played. MSOE outshot its visitors 11-1, including eight shots on frame, and forced four corner kicks.
In the second half, Lawrence made some adjustments and evened out the play.
Senior keeper Garrett Farin was forced into four saves in the first 15 minutes, doing his best to keep the Viking offense at bay. He made back-to-back spectacular sprawling saves, first to his right in the 53rd minute and then to his left in the 58th minute.
Prestin added to the score line in the 80th minute on another diving header. This time, Logan Andryk sent a bouncing cross to the far post and Prestin once again drove it into the net with an acrobatic head ball.
Farin finished the match with those four saves and combined with sophomore Jeff Clement for the shutout.
MSOE finished with a 16-6 advantage in shots and forced LU keeper Joe Krivit into six saves.
The Raiders return to action this weekend at Dubuque Saturday.
