Raiders Power Past Wisconsin Lutheran, 68-54

Box Score

MILWAUKEE – The MSOE men's basketball team went on a 28-9 run over the end of the first half and the start of the second to overcome an early double-digit deficit and hand Wisconsin Lutheran a 68-54 loss Tuesday evening at the Kern Center.

The Raiders (8-6, 5-4 NACC) shot 55.8 percent in the game to down the Warriors (8-9, 4-8 NACC) for their third-straight victory.

Junior Austin Stueck topped the 20-point mark for the eighth-straight game and finished with a game-high 20 points. Junior Connor Patterson was MSOE's only other player in double-figures with 10, while sophomore Collin Seubert added nine.

Kyle Stelse was the lone Wisconsin Lutheran player to crack double-digits with 13 points. Christian Walz and Brett Lubbe added nine points apiece.

WLC jumped out early, opening the game on a 12-2 run and playing with the lead through the opening half. The visitor's lead peaked at 12 at 31-19 late in the first half.

That was when the Raiders started their comeback.

MSOE ended the first half on a 9-3 run to pull within 34-28 at halftime. It then opened the second half on a 19-5 run to blow past the Warriors and take a 47-39 lead after five-straight points from sophomore Alex Darville.

The Raiders would take their own double-digit lead at 54-44 with 10:35 to play on a three-pointer by senior Nathan Verdun. The score was 54-46 when seven-straight Red & White points made it 61-46 on a Patterson put-back. Its lead peacked at 18 when Seubert made a pair of free throws to make it 67-49

In addition to its hot shooting, MSOE also took care of the ball with just eight turnovers. One key to the turnaround was a rebounding. WLC had a commanding 20-6 advantage on the boards at the break, but the Raiders on the second half battle of the boards 22-10.

The Warriors were limited to 23.1 percent (6-for-26) shooting after halftime and scored just 20 second-half points as the home team completed its comeback.

The Raiders return to action Thursday at Concordia Wisconsin.
