Raiders Clinch #3 Seed Behind Travia Hat Trick

Box Score

WAUWATOSA, Wis. – Junior Sara Travia scored three goals and assisted on two more as the MSOE women's soccer team built a 5-0 halftime lead and defeated Wisconsin Lutheran 6-0 Saturday afternoon at Warrior Soccer Field.

With the win, the Raiders (11-6, 7-2 NACC) clinched a program-best No. 3 seed in the NACC Tournament. They now know they will host No. 6 Edgewood in the quarterfinals Sunday, Nov. 1, at 1 p.m.

Travia scored for the third-straight match and notched her second hat trick of the season despite playing just 50 minutes. Senior Natalie Gayner scored a goal and set up two more, while junior Ally Brehm had a goal and an assist. Junior Erika Spanbauer rounded out the Red & White goal scorers in the match.

Travia scored or assisted on each of MSOE's first four goals, all coming within a 6:36 span.

She headed in a cross from Gayner in the 15th minute for the game's first goal, then set up Brehm's rebound goal in the 18th minute. Just 21 seconds later, Travia was back at it off another assist from Gayner. In the 21st minute, Gayner nabbed a goal of her own when a through ball from Travia put her on a breakaway on goal.

Spanbauer would later make it a 5-0 lead in the 33rd minute, finishing off a corner kick from junior Maria Schumacher.

Despite outscoring the hosts 5-0 in the opening half, shots were just 15-9 in the Raiders favor. They finished the match with a 32-11 advantage after a 17-2 shot tally in the second half.

Travia wrapped up her hat trick in the 55th minute off an assist from Brehm.

Four different goalkeepers saw time in the net for the Red & White, with sophomore Mary McFee playing a team-high 34:30 and stopping two shots to earn the win. Junior Sydney Stephens also stopped two shots in just under 27 minutes. Senior Margot Giesey and junior Haley Anderson each logged just over 14 minutes in goal.

The Raiders close out the regular season this Wendesday, hosting Concordia Chicago at Viets Field.
