Box Score MILWAUKEE – Senior Austin Stueck scored 21 points and senior Connor Patterson finished with 14 points and 14 rebounds as the MSOE men's basketball team coasted to a 76-63 victory over Dominican Saturday at the Kern Center.
The Raiders (3-4, 2-2 NACC) led by 30 early in the second half and held a 25-point advantage late before the Stars (0-5, 0-6 NACC) drained three 3-pointers down the stretch to make it closer.
Stueck finished 9-of-16 from the field in the game and added seven rebounds, while Patterson shot 4-for-7 and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Senior Garrison Glowniak added 10 points and junior Collin Seubert had eight points and nine rebounds.
Josh Mayberry led Dominican with 17 points, scoring 14 in the second half, and Tim Robertson chipped in 11 points.
With 8:37 remaining in the first period, MSOE's lead was just five points at 21-16, but the Red & White rattled off a 19-3 run to end the first half to take a 40-19 lead into halftime. Then, the Raiders opened the second half on a 13-4 run to expand their lead to a game-high 30 points at 53-23 just over four minutes into the second half.
The lead was 74-49 with 2:41 to play when the visitors came alive from beyond the arc. The Stars drained their final three 3-point attempts and converted a three-point attempts with an old fashioned three-point play to make it a 13-point game at the buzzer.
In a dominant first half, the Raiders outshot DU .467 to .296. They also held a 27-13 rebounding edge and a 14-4 advantage in second-chance points.
For the game, MSOE shot 47.2 percent with 17 assists against just 11 turnovers. It was 8-for-25 from three-point range and 18-of-27 at the free throw line. Dominican also turned the ball over just 11 times and finished the game shooting 37 percent. The visitors finished 8-of-22 from three-point and 15-of-23 at the free throw line.
The Raiders return to the court Thursday, continuing a five-game homestand against Maranatha.
