Raiders Can't Catch Up With Warriors in 83-74 Loss

WAUWATOSA, Wis. - Junior Austin Stueck scored 29 points to lead three players in double-figures for the MSOE men's basketball team as it fell to Wisconsin Lutheran 83-74 Wednesday evening at WLC's Recreation Complex.

The Raiders (13-12, 10-10 NACC) and Warriors (14-11, 10-10 NACC) finished the regular season tied for sixth with Marian, with MSOE earning the sixth seed on a tiebreaker. As No. 6, the team will play at No. 3 Concordia Wisconsin in the NACC Quarterfinals Saturday at 2 p.m.

Stueck went 9-for-9 at the free throw line and added seven assists in the game. Sophomore Collin Seubert finished with 16 points, including four 3-pointers, and junior Connor Patterson had 14.

Wisconsin Lutheran put five players in double-digits, led by Jake Jarnigo's 21 points. Kyle Steise scored 18 points, while DJ Esamilla had 13 points and Christian Walz 11 off the bench. Brett Lubbe also scored 12.

The Raiders got off to a hot start, jumping out to a nine-point (23-14) lead on a Seubert three-pointer with 8:02 remaining. The lead was still at 28-19 with 5:35 to play, but the Warriors rebounded with a 16-4 run to close out the first half and take a 35-32 lead into halftime.

WLC led by as many as 14, but MSOE chipped away at the deficit. A Stueck three-pointer with 48 seconds remaining made it 76-72, but that was as close as the team would get. The Warriors then made 7-of-8 free throws down the stretch to seal the game.

The Raiders shot well in the game, 48.1 percent from the field and a blistering 18-for-19 at the free throw line. The home team shot 45 percent in the game, hitting on 8-of-16 from three-point rane and went 21-for-26 at the charity stripe.
