MT. VERNON, Iowa – The MSOE men's tennis team dropped a tight 5-4 match to Cornell College Saturday morning at the Multi-Sport Center Arena.
The Raiders (3-6) trailed 2-1 after doubles play, but was unable to overtake the Rams (1-2) in splitting the singles matches.
Sophomore Mason Sauder and senior Matt Slaughter paired for the doubles win, scoring an 8-4 victory in the No. 3 position. Sauder was also one of three MSOE solo winners, posting a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles.
Senior Zachary Dam won at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-4, and sophomore Tom Smith rounded out the point-winners with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles.
The Raiders will look to reclaim their winning ways Sunday, returning to their home court to host Lawrence at noon.
