Box Score LISLE, Ill. – The MSOE women's basketball team had four starters score in double-figures as it defeated Benedictine 70-61 Saturday afternoon at the Rice Center for its school-record-tying 17th win of the season.
The Raiders (17-5, 13-4 NACC) ended the game on a 14-2 run to take down the Eagles (14-8, 14-3 NACC) for their fifth-straight win.
With 17 wins, the 2014-15 MSOE squad equaled the 2011-12 team (17-10) as the winningest in school history. The team also extended its school record of 13 conference wins, which had surpassed the 2011-12 and last season's teams' 11 wins.
Sophomore Holly Denfeld led the way with 17 points and 11 rebounds for her 11th double-double of the season. Sophomore Margaret Pugh shared team-high scoring honors by hitting 6-of-7 from the field and 3-of-4 from three-point range for her 17 points. Sophomore Shaylan Reardon scored 15 points and junior Megan Kroll finished with 10.
Meghan Novak scored 22 points for homestanding Benedictine. Two players added eight points each.
The Raiders trailed 59-56 with 4:49 remaining in regulation, but rattled off 10-straight points to overtake the Eagles for the final time and open a 66-59 advantage on a Kroll free throw with 1:13 to play.
The game featured 11 lead changes and six ties, as the Red & White overcame a five-point deficit at halftime.
MSOE shot 46.2 percent for the game and made 8-of-14 three-point attempts. The team also doubled up BenU's free throw attempts (20-10), making 14.
The Raiders return to the court Wednesday, hosting Concordia Wisconsin at the Kern Center. MSOE and CUW are tied for third in the NACC at 13-4.
