KOHLER, Wis. - The MSOE men's tennis team shuffled its lineup and gained the same result, as it rolled past Lakeland 8-1 Wednesday afternoon at Sports Core Health and Racquet Club.
The Raiders (9-9, 5-1 NACC) clinching their spot in the NACC Tournament by knocking off the Muskies (1-5, 1-10 NACC).
Outside of senior Zachary Dam at No. 1 singles, every other place on the lineup was new. Dam won his singles match 6-1, 6-3 to set the tone. He also dropped down to No. 3 doubles with first-time partner sophomore Austin Campbell and secured the 8-1 victory.
Sophomore Tom Smith posted wins in both his singles and doubles matches for the sixth-straight meet. He slotted up to No. 2 singles for a 6-1, 6-0 win and moved up to No. 1 doubles with sophomore John Price and won 8-4.
Rounding out doubles play was sophomores Kyle Fassbender and Mason Sauder at No. 2. They pair for an 8-3 win. In singles, Fassbender moved into the lineup at No. 5 and won 6-0, 6-2.
Senior Andrew Kosasih and freshman Austin Fite also scored singles wins. Kosasih was a straight-set winner at No. 3, 6-4, 6-2. Fite had a comeback win at No. 6, rebounding from a 4-6 loss in the first set, to take the final two sets 6-1, 6-3.
The Raiders return to action Saturday at Dubuque.
