Box Score DePERE, Wis. – Sophomore Melina Lynn scored the game's lone goal in the 59th minute and two keepers combined on a shutout to lead the MSOE women's soccer team to a 1-0 win at St. Norbert Tuesday evening in its season-opener.
The Raiders (1-0) got a save from sophomore starter Mary McFee in the first half and two more from junior Sydney Stephens in the second to defeat the Green Knights (0-1) for the second-straight season.
Senior Tori St. Martin set up the decisive score, playing a long diagonal ball to Lynn, who ran on to the ball and finished a soft chip over the on-rushing keeper for the goal.
Despite just the one score, MSOE put unrelenting pressure on the SNC goal. The Red & White outshot the Green Knights 19-4 in the match and forced Maddie Plinska into 11 saves on the night.
The Raiders opened the season with a win over St. Norbert for the second-straight season and will go for a 2-0 start Friday against Franklin in Terre Haute, Ind. The match kicks off at 5 p.m. central time and is the first of two matches they will play at the site, taking on host Rose-Hulman Saturday.
