SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – Five different players won in both singles and doubles play as the MSOE women's tennis team shut out Lakeland 9-0 Wednesday afternoon at Kohler Sport Core.
The Raiders (2-6, 2-2 NACC) have now won back-to-back conference matches.
Sophomore Carly Grant posted a 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 1 singles position and teamed with senior Michelle Roubik for an 8-0 shutout at No. 2 doubles. Roubik won her singles match at No. 5, 6-1, 6-3. She is now 4-1 this season solo and 3-1 in doubles play.
No. 1 doubles was a tight 9-8 (7-5) victory for freshmen Monica Gurdak and Cali Bonie. Both players won their singles matches, with Gurdak posting a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2. Bonie won 6-3, 6-0 in the No. 3 position.
Senior Brittany Kelley rounded out the team's dual-point winners. She paired with senior Melanie Avery for a 9-7 win at No. 3 doubles and secured a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles. Freshman Pauline Scharping also won in singles play, rebounding from a 3-6 loss in the opening set to take the final two frames 6-4 and 10-9.
The Raiders return to the court Saturday with a pair of matches in Illinois. They play at Dominican at 10 a.m. and Concordia Chicago at 2 p.m.
