Raiders Drop Two at IIAC-NACC Crossover

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The MSOE women's volleyball team was outhit by host Loras and edged out by Simpson in dropping a pair of matches on the opening day of the IIAC-NACC Crossover at the Loras AWC.

The Raiders (9-7) fell to the Duhawks 25-19, 25-14, 25-19 in their first match of the day, then came back to push the Storm to five sets 25-23, 12-25, 21-25, 27-25, 16-14.

Freshman Hannah Pekarek led MSOE against Simpson with a double-double of 16 kills and 16 digs. Junior Rachel Lynde had 15 kills, while senior Leah Hendricks had eight kills, four service aces and 18 digs.

After dropping a tight first set, the Raiders hit .500 with 15 kills and no errors in the second frame for a 25-12 win. They would take a 2-1 lead in the match, but the Storm claimed the final two sets in extra points for the match.

The Red & White hit .238 for the match.

In the first match of the day, Loras managed to hit .368, including at least .400 in each of the first two sets.

Lynde had a team-high six kills. Hendricks and junior Madline Molnor had five kills each.

The IIAC-Crossover wraps up tomorrow, with MSOE taking on Dubuque at 11 a.m. and Luther at 3 p.m.
