Box Score 2 LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The MSOE women's volleyball team pushed its season-opening winning streak to five matches with a thrilling five-set victory over Greenville, but saw it come to an end with a four-set loss to UW-River Falls on the final day of the Forester Invitational Saturday at the Sports & Rec Center.
The Raiders (5-1) continued their hot start to the season with a thrilling 25-21, 25-23, 20-25, 24-26, 19-17 victory over the Panthers. Then, they suffered their first loss at the hands of the Falcons, 16-25, 27-25, 25-16, 25-20.
Junior Rachel Lynde led the offense in the opener, notching 18 kills against Greenville as the Red & White thwarted the Panthers' comeback attempt from 2-0 down in the match.
Freshman Hannah Pekarek continued an impressive first week of college volleyball, posting double-doubles in each match. Against GC, she notched 17 kills and 11 digs. She followed that up with a team-high 13 kills and 10 digs vs. UWRF. Over her first six matches, she is second on the team with 2.71 kills per set and second with 4.0 digs per set. She's posted three double-doubles and at least 10 digs in each match.
Junior Sarabeth Haworth had 18 digs against Greenville and sophomore Abby Born finished with 52 assists. Then, against the Falcons, Haworth had 17 digs and Born 32 assists. In that second match, senior Leah Hendricks had nine kills and nine digs, with Lynde collecting eight kills.
Born was named to the five-player Forester Invitational All-Tournament Team.
The Raiders return to action Tuesday, hosting Beloit at the Kern Center. The match gets started at 7 p.m.
